Bladder Endometriosis: A Systematic Review of Pathogenesis, Diagnosis, Treatment, Impact on Fertility, and Risk of Malignant Transformation

U. Leone Roberti Maggiore, S. Ferrero, M. Candiani, E. Somigliana, P. Viganò, P. Vercellini

The bladder is the most common site affected in urinary tract endometriosis.

Ultrasound is the gold standard examinations for diagnosis of bladder endometriosis

(BE). Treatment of BE can be medical or surgical. Segmental bladder resection is

preferable to transurethral resection to achieve complete lesion removal. BE is often

associated with other types of endometriosis, so clinical management of this

condition at referral centres should involve both gynaecologists and urologists.

New or existing data from randomized controlled trials can lead to conflicts with

meta-analysis data. In this paper, we present examples of and explore reasons for

such conflicts. Guidance is provided to guideline developers on how to assess

conflicting data in such circumstances to help determine which source is more

reliable. For guideline organizations, both within and outside of urology, having a

well-defined and robust process to deal with such conflicts is essential to improve

the quality of their guidelines.

Advanced Reconstruction of Vesicourethral Support (ARVUS) during Robot-assisted Radical Prostatectomy: One-year Functional Outcomes in a Two-group Randomised Controlled Trial

V. Student Jr., A. Vidlar, M. Grepl, I. Hartmann, E. Buresova, V. Student

We carried out a prospective randomised study on a new technique for

reconstruction of vesicourethral anastomosis using the support of the levator ani

muscle during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy. The continence results are

promising and there was no negative impact on erectile function.
